Born in Newfoundland, Canada and raised in the classical Pentecostal tradition, Ewen Butler is a fourth generation Pentecostal and the product of a publically funded denominational education system. Trained as an educator with undergraduate degrees in arts and education (majors in French and history) from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), St. John’s, NF, Canada, he was a junior and senior high school teacher for nine years. He received a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from the Wheaton College Graduate School (1985) and a Master of Divinity from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS), Springfield, MO. (1986). He received the PhD in Renewal Studies from Regent University in 2015 and was winner of the Vinson Synan Distinguished Graduate Award. He has written frequently for local newspapers and Pentecostal publications.
