   Holman Hunt’s The Light of the World takes on a deeper more profound meaning in Duane Priset’s beautiful artistic and spiritual conversation about the artist’s most famous painting. His historical account of Hunt’s life and development as a young artist took me back to when I was a young art major in high school. This book gives us a fascinating look into Hunt’s dedication to study and capture the evening light accurately portraying ambient and projected light from a lantern in The Light of the World. We are drawn in by symbolic images of God’s love for us and our opportunities to respond to His call. Each chapter begins with carefully chosen Holy Scripture developing the artist’s deep reverence of God’s Word and closes with beautiful prayers of reflection for readers to form their own thoughts. As a result of reading On Holman Hunt’s The Light of the World, A Devotional and Developmental Life Journey, by Duane Priset, I will be forever changed in how I look at art, especially religious paintings. The Light of the World has and will continue to touch the hearts of mankind.
