Description
The true Christian digs down deep and finds the way to personal relationship with God—who is high up and already has found the seeker. Then comes the growing relationship highlighted by the practice of prayer. To know God is to be touched by the grace of God. This leads to touching others with divine grace. Such deep touching is an underground entrance to true knowing and the richest of living and serving. It’s Christian theology at its best and the launching pad for Christian action.
Prayer is being energized by God’s life and propelled by God’s breath, the wind of the Spirit. We become Spirit people on the move in the Spirit’s direction. Christian prayer enables a protest of the world order and the envisioning of a new future. It fi res hearts, cleanses tongues, and engages hands. It opens the door to Christian holiness and mission. Go down before reaching out. BE before you GO!
Children of God learn to stand against darkness and use the gifts of the Spirit. They join an uprising against the present disorder of the world. Their prayer touches the divine garment and sparks awareness of belonging to a different reality. This reality defi es the powers of evil and anticipates the kingdoms of this world becoming the kingdom of Christ (Rev 11:15). The model prayer encouraged by Jesus touches all the bases as the Father wishes. Do you know that the best of the Bible and the spiritual life is “underground”?
