   In this reflection on faith and learning, Dr. Mannoia captures the essence of what makes Christian education so impactful. When done well, faculty and their students embark on a mutual journey of discovery that draws both parties closer to God. Dr. Mannoia’s admonition to think deeply about the revealed truths underlying one’s discipline is a reminder that to be truly transformational, education must be more than practical or useful-it must be holistic, virtuous, and redemptive.

   Expressing Life is a call to all Christian higher education to understand and exemplify the unity of learning and faith in Christ. For too long, the emphasis in higher education has been on one or the other, learning or faith, with the occasional attempt to slam these two together to produce “integration.” Dr. Mannoia presents a clear call to Christian educators to simultaneously achieve excellent learning and deep faith, partnering with God in his reconciling work so that students are transformed in the image of God, for the purposes of God. Expressing Life is a timely resource for continuing the renewing work of Christian higher education.
