Description
How do we find God in the back alleys of our scary lives? Is God even there? If God is all love and all supreme, why back alleys in the first place? Christian life can be a trail of questions, tears, and doubts or a road of joy brightened by rays of divine glory.
Desired sunrises get delayed and the Devil’s always in the desert where we must wander. Truth isn’t as “clean” as we’d like. There’s much rain and only an occasional rainbow sighting. Why? Since divine light has shined, why has the
world’s darkness remained?
Since the answers aren’t all in, can we at least learn to walk through the storms of our days, even begin to dance in the dark? Can Christians accept God’s calling for us to willingly stay in dark places with Jesus, ministering selflessly
to the lost and troubled?
Jesus was born in this world, but his arrival wasn’t pretty, his true identity not obvious, and his life headed for an ugly cross. Was the Bethlehem baby actually God with us or only the scandalous result of Mary cheating on Joseph? Rumors don’t go away. The God claimed by faith remains in the shadows. Separating light from dark is our ongoing challenge. There’s a choice. Which will it be, despair drawn on our faces or a bright hope overcoming negative circumstances?
These pages face the difficult questions without flinching. They come out with the Apostle John: “What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out (Jn. 1:4-5 The Message).
