Description
Originally published in 1999, this book is an oral history of a significant group of New Zealand Pentecostal churches, the New Life Churches of New Zealand (also called the “Indigenous Churches”). This movement, which emerged in 1946, is now one of the larger associations of autonomous Pentecostal assemblies in New Zealand. Brett Knowles has combined both history and theology, critically examining its stories and going behind them to report what really happened. He explains the movement’s development and theology and notes its appeal as well as its strengths and weaknesses.
